ABOUT RDJ

RON DE JESÚS is an award winning dancer and choreographer. A Chicago native, Ron has danced with Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater, Joseph Holmes Dance Theater, Chicago Repertory Dance Ensemble, and was a leading dancer with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago for 17 seasons. In 2001, he joined the original cast of the Twyla Tharp / Billy Joel Broadway Musical “MOVIN’ OUT”.
Ron is the Artistic Ambassador of Northeastern Illinois University and Artistic Associate for StagePlays Theater Company. Recipient of the 2006 & 2007 New York Musical Theater Festival Award for Excellence for Best Choreography; the 2006 award recipient of the Melinda Atwood/Jerry Mitchell “DanceBreak Choreographic Competition 2006”; and the Irvine, California‘s “National Choreographers Initiative 2006”. Awarded the Ruth Page Award for “Outstanding Male Dancer”. In 2007 and 2008 he was invited to be an adjudicator for DanceBreak. Ron is the winner of the 2008 Carbonell Award for best choreogrpahy for the Maltz Jupiter Theater's musical production of " The Full Monty" in Jupiter Florida.

Mr. De Jesús has created works for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago , HS2, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago (for which he won the Chicago Music and Dance Alliance Award 2004), Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Sacramento Ballet, Momenta, Thodos Dance Chicago, Dance New Amsterdam’s annual “In the Company of Men 2006”, Point Park University, Harvard University and Purchase University, Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS, “7th on 6th Fashion NYC”; Aetna Life and Casualty, Philips Semiconductor and Verizon Wireless commercials; and was the Assistant Choreographer for the Madonna/Rosie O’Donnell film “A League of Their Own”. As a dancer, he has appeared in the films “Road to Perdition”, “Stay” and Julie Taymor's “Across the Universe”.

Mr. De Jesús has choreographed for the pre-workshop of the Richard Frankel Productions Broadway-bound new musical “Cheer”, Stageplays Theater Company’s Off-Broadway productions at the Theater Row/ Beckett of “La Llorona/The Crying Woman” and “Pied-a-Terre”, New Jersey Repertory Dorothy Paker’s “The Little Hours “ and “Cupid & Psyche”. Choreographed multiple works for Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts “Stars of Ballet and Broadway 2007” and “National City Stars of Ballet and Broadway 2008”. Ron has choreographing“42nd Street” for COPA, Maltz Jupiter and "Pippin" for Craig Wich Studio of Performing Arts.

BalletMet Columbus “Jazz Moves Take 2”, "A-T Childrens Project" Lincoln Center NYC, "Stars of Ballet and Broadway 2009" Music Hall, Solo for Vladimir Malakhov's StaatsBallet Berlin and "Vladimir Malakhov and Friends" National Tour, Western Michigan University Great Works Dance Project, and Ballet Hispanico's 2009 Joyce Theater Season NYC. Ron's ballet "Depature Point" was performed at The5th Busan International Dance Festival, Korea. Recently, invited to be part of the "The Broadway Experience" summer intensive. Mr. De Jesus was part of the creative team of Twyla Tharp's new Frank Sinatra show "Come Fly Away" on Broadway now. Ron De Jesus Dance is proud to have had it's first successful season in NYC at the Joyce SoHo for their 2010 dance series. Ron just finished choreographed a ballet for an outreach program with Art Reaching Children of Chicago "Diamond Suite". Future projects 2010 "Broken Fences" for Stageplays in NYC. Ron De Jesus Dance will perform at Music Hall of Performing Arts, Detroit Michigan. Ron is very excitied to start a creative workshop on the Broadway bound new rock musical of "Chix 6", www.chix6.com.at the Queens Theatre in Oct. 2011. Mr. De Jesus created a ballet for Ballet Hispanico called "Triptico" with original music by Latin-Jazz Salsa Grammy Winner musical composer Oscar Hernandez which made the cover of this months July issue of Dance Magazine. Bravo! RDJ DANCE performed for the DANCE /USA 2011 Showcase and had a amazing experience performing in the 2011 20th Anniversary of "Dance For Life" and "Dance For Life" Palm Springs,CA 2012.

and Dance Theatre of Tennessee's -Latin Heat series, Wayne State University, Evanston Dance Ensemble, Music Hall for the Performing Arts 2012 Gala, and L'Ecole Superieure De Ballet Du Quebec Corp De Ballet.

Mr. De Jesús is a repetiteur for Twyla Tharp Productions, setting Ms. Tharp’s works on dance companies around the world. Ron has worked with Norwegian Cruise Line, NBA Ballet-Japan, Washington Ballet, Aspen Sante Fe Ballet, HSDC, Alabama Ballet, Sacramento Ballet.
